Obituary of STEVE ZELISNEY
STEVE ZELISNEY
Peacefully on May 1, 2023 with family at his side at Deer Lodge Centre, Steve Zelisney joined his beloved wife Helen in the arms of the Lord. Helen passed away on September 22, 2018 after being married for 61 years.
Steve was born on October 26, 1934 in Foam Lake, Saskatchewan. He will be lovingly missed by his children Brenda (Jerry), Sherry, Marlene (Rick), Wayne (Holly), Jackie, and his grandchildren Christina, Sharla, Robynn and Carly.
He is predeceased by 11 brothers and sisters, mother Mary and father Wasyl.
Steve worked at CPR for many years and then retired from a custodial position at Westworth United Church.
He loved spending time with his family and grandchildren and took many station wagon vacations with his wife and children when they were young, which are now cherished family memories.
He was always tinkering around with cars and found joy in working and puttering around in his garage and yard. He liked sitting on the front porch listening to his transistor radio, having a whiskey, smoking a cigarette and just enjoying his west end neighbourhood where he lived for over 60 years.
The family would like to thank the wonderful and supportive staff at Deer Lodge Centre for taking such good care of him for the past 12 years. A special thanks to Zinovy, and all of the doctors, nurses, and care aids whose time and dedication will not be forgotten.
Funeral service will take place on Saturday, May 6, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Josephat's Ukrainian Catholic Church, 590 Alverstone Avenue.
