MARGUERITE FERNE AULD

August 3, 1926 – May 4, 2023

 

Our family is sad to announce the passing of Marguerite Ferne Auld on May 4, 2023.

Mom was predeceased by her husband George Auld and her partner Will DeWildt, her mother and father, Harry and Ferne Siddon, her brother's Roy (Doris), Lorne Siddon and sister Gwen Goodman.

 

Mom is survived by her sister Shirley Wells (Bud), sister-in-law Mona, daughter Marilyn Johnson, sons Doug (Donna), Greg (Darlene), three grandchildren, four great- grandchildren, Shirley Auld (Brian), Tina DeWildt, William DeWildt (Betty) and families.

 

Mom was born in Swan River in a two bedroom farm house on August 3,1926. After moving to Winnipeg, Mom started working at the Canadian Wheat Board at the age of 17. She was there until marrying George Auld in 1947. Mom and Dad raised three children on Manhattan Avenue in Elmwood until Dad's passing in 1963.

Mom worked at Gambles Department Store where she met Will DeWildt, her partner for 47 years. Mom returned to the Wheat Board where she worked for another 10 years 1967 – 1977.

Mom and Will moved to Lac du Bonnet in 1976 where they started and ran M&W Footwear. Mom enjoyed her many years in Lac du Bonnet where she made many dear friends.

 

Mom loved to dance, curl and play golf in both Lac du Bonnet and Texas where she and Will spent many winters.

 

Moving back to Winnipeg in 1998,  Mom and Will enjoyed their retirement at 360 Osborne Street. In 2010 Mom and Will moved to Concordia Village where Will passed away in 2012. She met and married Glenn Nicholls in the fall of 2013. They travelled extensively throughout their married life together.

 

Cremation has taken place and no service will be held.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to CNIB or the Siloam Mission.
