Obituary of JEAN MILDRED KOWAL
After a long and peaceful life Jean passed away at the age of 91 on April 26, 2023. Jean Kowal nee Kamins will be lovingly remembered by brother Norman, son Curtis (Lea), grandsons Brendan (Lindsay) and Colin, great-grandchild Makenna and niece and nephew Paula and Daryl. She was predeceased by her husband John (2008), parents Pauline and Roy as well as brothers and sisters William, Arthur, Elsie, Vina, Ilene, Della and Margie.
An avid lover of games, some of Jean’s favourite pastimes included playing card games with her family, watching Jeopardy, and playing Sudoku. During family card games it was a running joke that if Jean wasn’t winning then someone must be cheating, unless of course the cheating was coming from her end, but only to ensure her grandsons might win. The other way in which Jean loved to spend her time is by cheering on every Canadian sports team. The Blue-Jays, Raptors and the Jets were among her favourites, and she rarely missed a game.
Jean will be greatly missed by her family; she loved spending time with her family as much as her family enjoyed spending time with her. She could always be counted on for countless stories about her grandsons and laughter due to her quick wit. The family would like to thank the staff of Catherine’s Place and Riverview Health Centre for the great care they took of Jean.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Siloam Mission Winnipeg.
