Obituary of REVEREND FATHER KENNETH R. BARCLAY
Reverend Kenneth R. Barclay, a Roman Catholic Priest of the Archdiocese of Winnipeg, passed away at his residence in Winnipeg on April 26, 2023; he was 94 years old.
Born in Regina, Saskatchewan on January 12, 1929, Fr. Ken attended Pope John XXIII Seminary in Weston, Massachusetts and was ordained to the priesthood by Archbishop Exner on August 25, 1982. Fr. Ken served as the Parochial Vicar of St. Edward the Confessor Parish in Winnipeg (1982-83) and at St. Mary’s Cathedral (1983-85). He served as Pastor of St. Michael’s Parish in Gimli with attached missions (1985-1991), Our Lady of Victory Parish in Winnipeg (1991-1997) and at St. Andrew and Margaret Parish in Little Britain (1997-1999). Fr. Ken retired from active ministry in 1999 and then served for some years as a Sacramental Minister at St. Mary’s Cathedral.
A Funeral Mass for Fr. Barclay will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Cathedral on Tuesday, May 23, 2023 at 10:00 am. Most Reverend Richard Gagnon, Archbishop of Winnipeg, presiding.
Interment will take place at Assumption Cemetery.
