Obituary of KATHERINE (KAY) BADERL

(nee Epp)
June 24, 1931 – June 3, 2023
With great sadness, the family announces that on June 3, 2023, Katherine (Kay) Baderl nee Epp, passed away peacefully at age 91, with family by her side.
She is survived by her beloved son, John and his wife Krista, sister Hanni Epp and many nieces and nephews. Kay was preceded in death by her loving husband Al, brother Victor and her parents John and Katherine Epp.
Kay was born on June 24, 1931 in Niverville. The family moved to Winnipeg in 1942. Kay attended Daniel MacIntyre High School. In 1953 Kay met Alfons Baderl and they married on June 17, 1955. Kay worked at various places, including the Manitoba Heart Foundation as a bookkeeper. In 1972, Kay and Al welcomed their son, John, into their lives. Kay spent the next years raising John and creating her family. In her later years, Kay lived at Concordia Village where she made many friends and enjoyed many activities.
Kay will be remembered for her love of her husband and son, her family, reading, travel, puzzles of all sorts and nature. Kay had a very strong faith and was deeply devoted to God. She was a lifelong member of First Mennonite Church as well as attending Peace Lutheran Church in later years. Kay also had a lifelong passion for learning, even in her later years using technology to keep in touch with family.
In keeping with Kay’s wishes, a cremation has taken place with a private family burial.
