Obituary of FREDERIK JAMES VINCENT
Frederik James Vincent passed away peacefully with family at his side on June 18, 2023 at Grace Hospice, at the age of 73 years.
He was predeceased by his Father James, Wife Wendy, and Grandson Shane.
Fred is lovingly remembered by his children, Sandy (Shawn), Pattie (Dan), Tina (Marc), and Chris. He will be missed as well by his grandchildren Caitria, Alex, Mercadies, Courtney, Veronica, Kieran, and Hailey.
He also leaves his mother Louise Warner, brother Robert (Sue) residing in Victoria, British Columbia; as well as nieces, nephews and a large extended family.
Fred was born in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, raised in Winnipeg, MB and as a teen emigrated with his parents and brother to his mothers birthplace in Leiden, Holland. He returned to Canada as a young adult where at the age of 26 met the love of his life Wendy and the first of his children Sandy who may not have been related to him by blood but was related to him by love. His family grew to include three more children and many cherished pets throughout the years. He worked as a Taper (you only make the mistake of referring to him as a drywaller once!) with his last place of employment Econo Wall and Ceilings Ltd when he retired in 2016. Fred was a very hard worker and usually put in six days a week of work to provide for his family and because he believed in keeping at a job until it was done and not because a clock told him to stop.
He didn’t have a lot of down time but what down time he did have he enjoyed camping with his family and watching action movies on television which he swore were not only true stories but also the actors “actually did that!” This led to some lively discussions and debates with both family and friends. He was always looking for the fun in life and always to make the people around him happy.
The family would like to thank Pastor Rodney Neufeld and those he met at Abundant Life Baptist Church where Fred was a member of their congregation. We would also like to thank the staff of both the Riverview Health Centre and the Grace Hospice for all their kindness and care of both Fred and his family. It is so deeply appreciated.
A celebration of Fred’s life will be held on June 27th, 2023 at 1 PM at Abundant Life Baptist Church at 1396 Plessis Road in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
If friends so desire, donations may be made in Fred’s name to CancerCare Manitoba.
