LORRAINE FRANCIS JACK
With sadness we the family of Lorraine Francis Jack nee Schmidt announce her passing on Thursday, June 29th 2023 shortly after celebrating her 90th birthday.
Born to John Francis and Ada Schmidt on May 3rd 1933 at the Grace Hospital she was the second youngest of five siblings. Lorraine grew up in West Kildonan, attending Centennial school. She worked numerous jobs finally set settling for a career as service manager for J.W Bodner and Company.
She met the love of her life Crawford at “This is it” a coffee shop located at Main and Cathedral in the late 1940s. Married on September 1st, 1952, they continued to reside in West Kildonan. In 1953 they welcomed their daughter Laura-Lynn and son Danny in 1956. Many happy summers were spent at the family cabin on Gull Lake Manitoba with numerous family and friends. Lorraine was predeceased by husband Crawford in 2017 and daughter Laura in 2021. She is survived by her son Danny (Maureen) and two grandsons Fraser and Elliot who she loved with all her heart. She was very involved in both her grandsons lives and they will miss her greatly.
A very special thanks to all the hard-working staff at the Grace Hospice who provided loving care to Lorraine these past two months. Cremation has already been taken place and a small family service will be held. Should friends so desire donations can be made in Lorraine’s memory to CancerCare Manitoba or an animal shelter of one’s choice.
