Obituary of STEVEN JOHN O'GORMAN
STEVEN JOHN O'GORMAN
After a courageous three-and-a-half-year battle with cancer, Steven peacefully passed away surrounded by his family on Sunday, July 23, 2023.
A forever loved husband, father, papa, brother, son, uncle and friend. His strong presence could be felt by all those who had the opportunity to cross his life's path. He was a true John Wayne of our time. Always standing tall, brave and his willingness to help anyone out if in need but of course we can't forget that stubbornness of his. He worked at Riverview and Seven Oaks hospitals as a Power Engineer for 30 years where he met a lot of friends along the way. In Steve's life journey he enjoyed many things such as weight lifting, movies, long walks and curling with Old Crocks curling club for 24 + years; with family and friends being at the heart of all the things he loved and cherished. He was passionate about history, reading and learning all about the various wars and militaries of times present and past. You could say he was an encyclopedia, always willing and eager to share his knowledge. Steve enjoyed traveling, whether it was road trips with family to the West Coast or East Coast and to warmer destinations such as Vegas, Mexico and Dominican Republic. He also had a love of the simpler things in life such as a good old cheeseburger, strawberry milkshake and breakfast out with family and friends. His motto was... “KEEP IT SIMPLE STUPID”. Most of all Steve cherished his family and friends.
He will be remembered and missed dearly by his wife, Noreen of 38 years, his children, Stephen and Melissa (Levi), grandson Logan, mother Ruth, sister Darlene (Greg), sister-in-law Lori and his nieces and nephews, Lindsay (Kevin), Rachael, Kade, Cole, Stephanie (Adrien), Natasha (Kyle), Tanya (Kyle) and his long-time friends Larry and Louise Samborski.
Predeceased by, his father Stephen O'Gorman, mother-in-law Lorraine Schnurr, father-in-law Lorne Schnurr, sister-in-law Debbie Flood, brother-in-law Terry Flood and brother-in-law Kirby Garnier. His presence will also be missed by his beloved feline friend, Crackers.
Steven will be forever missed, though the memory of him will live on through sharing memories and stories (especially when around the bonfire).
The family would like to thank the palliative care unit at St. Boniface hospital for their compassionate care of Steven during his time there.
“Courage is about being scared to death but saddling up anyways”-John Wayne
We love you, forever and always.
