Obituary of MARIA JOSE BOTELHO MONIZ
Maria Jose Moniz was born in Porto Formoso, São Miguel, Portugal. She was widowed at 38, and was left to provide for her youngest 3 children on her own. Her culinary skills proved to be her greatest asset, which enabled her to provide for her children.
In 1975 she immigrated to Canada and soon began working in a Portuguese bakery where everyone could enjoy her baking. Additionally, she got the utmost pleasure cooking for her family, which she did right up until her last few months. Her baking and cooking were truly delicious.
She enjoyed travelling to Fall River to visit the family and had so many wonderful memories of the time she spent with them.
She lived independently at Arlington Haus for over 30 years right up to 97 years of age. She loved her time there and made some wonderful friends.
Maria Jose was a devout Catholic, and did not go a day without praying. She was ready anytime God was ready to take her.
One of her favourite past times was watching WWE on TV. Even though her English was very sparse she would excitedly count "1,2,3“ when wrestlers were pinned down.
She was predeceased by the love of her life, her husband Jose, her loving daughter Susana, 2 grandchildren Lesa and Kelly Joe, great grandson Keith, sons-in-law Manuel, Joao and Rene.
Maria Jose was devoted to her family from the oldest to the youngest.
Left to cherish her memory are her children: Hortencia, Maria Augusta, Jose Luis (Fatima), Lorena & her son-in-law Avelino. Along with 20 grandchildren, 49 great grandchildren, 21 great-great grandchildren, siblings and friends.
