With heavy hearts, we are saying goodbye to Helena, who peacefully passed away on August 8, 2023 at the Grace Hospital in Winnipeg, at the age of 73.

She was predeceased by her mother, Wladyslawa Kalmuk, her father, Franciszek Kalmuk and most recently by her older sister, Eugenia Kalmuk.

Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 54 years, Bill, her two daughters, Renata (Joe) and Marta (Chris), her precious grandchildren, Adrian (Marina), Matthew, Ryan and Tianna, her sisters, Maria (Marian), Aniela, and Halina (Andrzej) as well as many nieces and nephews in Poland and Canada.

Mom was born on November 24, 1949 in Siedlce, Poland.  She met her husband Bazyli and they married on September 6, 1969 in the village of Ryszkowa Wola in Podkarpacie.  They started their life together in Mielec where they raised their two daughters, Renata and Marta. 

Helena was a caring and loving wife, mother and grandmother (babcia).  Family was everything to her and having us all together brought her most joy.  She was a great friend and a very kind person to everyone who came in touch with her.

Mom was a hard worker all her life.  She worked as a bookkeeper in Mielec Poland and after our family relocated to Canada in 1990, she worked at the Health Science Center until she retired at the age of 65.

Our whole family would like to express heartfelt thanks to the caring staff at Holy Family Personal Care Home for the loving care they showed us over the final four and a half years while mom’s health deteriorated due to early onset of dementia.  

We all love you very much and you will forever be in our hearts.  Although your life ended too early, we find comfort that now you can rest in peace, free of any illness and limitations, reunited with your parents and older sister. We know you will kindly look upon us all.

Funeral Service will be held on Friday, August 11, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at the Holy Ghost Church, 342 Pritchard Avenue, with prayers beginning at 9:30 a.m. Interment will follow in Holy Ghost Cemetery at 4387 Main Street, West St. Paul.
