MABEL HELEN DERLAGO

Obituary of MABEL HELEN DERLAGO

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother and baba.

She will be greatly missed by her three children Cheri, Lisa (Les) and Gregg (Des) and grandsons Justin (Stephanie), Riley (Desiree) and step-grandson Dale (Carlie). She also leaves to mourn brothers Harvey (Shirley), Pete (Yvonne) and sister Marlene (Alec), as well as numerous cousins, nephews and nieces.

Mabel lost the love of her life, Ted, in 2007 after 51 years of marriage. She was also predeceased by her parents, Helen and Andrew and brothers Jack and Wally.

Mabel was born in Winnipegosis, MB, the 1st of 6 children. After meeting at a dance, Ted and Mabel married in 1955 and raised their family in West Kildonan. Mabel worked many years at the Bank of Montreal, retiring in 1985. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, playing cards, classic country music and hosting the many family gatherings. Mabel loved animals and took great pleasure in dog-sitting her grand-doggies, especially Jellybean. She also very much enjoyed her outings to the casino or dinner with her very special friends, Tilly and George. However, her greatest joy was watching her grandsons play hockey. She never missed a home game and often went on road trips to cheer on her boys.  Family was the most important thing in Mabel’s life. She was the happiest when surrounded by the people she loved.

During Mabel’s decline, she was blessed with having two companions to help her through her rough days. The family would like to sincerely thank Olya and Tanja for their compassion and kindness to Mabel. The family would also like to thank Dr. Jared Morris at St. Boniface Hospital for his care during her last days.

“Mom, thank you for loving us and all the wonderful memories we will cherish for eternity.

We love you...rest peacefully.”

Flowers are gratefully declined. If friends so desire, donations may be made in Mabel's memory to the Humane Society.

Mabel was laid to rest in a private service at All Saints Cemetery.
