Obituary of FERNANDO BOLIBOL ALCON

Fernando Bolibol Alcon, a loving husband, father, brother, uncle and grandfather (lolo), passed away on August 27, 2023, at the age of 71. Born on June 28, 1952, in Sarrat, Ilocos Norte, Philippines, Fernando was the son of Pedro and Felipa Alcon. He was predeceased by his parents and his brother Ricardo Alcon.

In 1984, Fernando embarked on a new chapter in his life, immigrating to Winnipeg, MB, to be with his wife Norma and daughter Marlene. Later that year, his son Jeffrey was born, completing their family. Known for his stoic and observant nature, Fernando was a kind and gentle man who cherished his family above all else.

Fernando loved aquarium fish and kept an extensive collection. One of his great joys was heading out to Hawaii to be with even more family and enjoy the tropical paradise. He also found joy in fishing, garage sales, house plants, television, and spending quality time with his loved ones.  

For over a decade, he worked diligently as a machine operator at All Canadian Emblem Corporation in Winnipeg. Then in 2005, Fernando and his wife relocated to Vancouver, BC, where they reconnected with extended family and friends. He initially worked at Standard Aero before becoming a valued employee at Transcontinental (Flexstar) for over 15 years, forming strong friendships along the way. 

In 2020, he retired and moved to Calgary, AB, to be closer to his daughter, son-in-law Daniel, and grandchildren Owen, Iris, and Calla. He would still frequently visit Winnipeg to be with his son, daughter-in-law (Jessica) and grandson Jaeyen. Despite the relatively short time in Calgary, they created wonderful memories together through camping adventures, fishing at Mahogany Lake, road trips, and cherishing moments with his grandchildren (apos) .  

Fernando was a loyal and devoted husband, a caring father, and an amazing lolo who always prioritized the well-being of his family. He leaves behind his beloved wife Norma, children Marlene (Daniel) and Jeffrey (Jessica), and four apos: Owen, Iris, Calla, and Jaeyen. Along with their families, he will also be deeply missed by his brothers Laureano (Estrelita), Felicisimo (Marcelina), Lordiego (Josielyn), sister-in-law Loreta and other close relatives in Hawaii and the Philippines 

Fernando Bolibol Alcon will be remembered for his hard work, commitment, and unwavering love for his family.  His legacy will live on through the memories shared and the impact he made on the lives of those who knew him. May he rest in peace.
