Obituary of ELIZABETH DELICIA BAKE
Betty passed away peacefully at home at the age of 100 years.
Betty was predeceased by her husband, Leslie, in 2007. They had been married for 60 years. She is survived by her daughter, Barbara, and son, Douglas, grandchildren: Erin (Jeff), Kyle (Audra), Chris (Krista) and Michael (Lilian), and 7 greatgrandchildren.
Betty was born in Wales and immigrated to Canada in 1929, living first on a farm near the Saskatchewan border, then in Beausejour, and finally, in Winnipeg. Mom was employed for many years at the Society for Crippled Children and Adults.
Betty and Les enjoyed many years at their cottage at Falcon Lake, loving the lake life and taking part in many social activities with their neighbours. They were active members of the North Centennial Seniors Association, participating in various exercise and swimming programs, sports and social activities. They volunteered for many years with the Grandma and Grandpa Program at Sargent Tommy Prince Pool, introducing young children to the pool. Mom also enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, playing cards, and painting. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and greatgrandchildren. As Mom’s health declined, she enjoyed going to the casino and out for lunch with friends. She had many friends and was well respected in her community.
Mom and Dad travelled extensively, enjoying many cruises and numerous road trips to both coasts. After Dad passed away, Mom continued to travel well into her 90”s with her daughter, Barbara, and daughter-in-law, Janet.
The family would like to thank Natalie and Robyn of With Love Home Care for the gentle, compassionate care they provided for Mom.
A Celebration of Mom’s life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 3, 2023 at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street.
