Obituary of GLORIA SUSANNE KINNER

(nee Kowal)
With deep sadness we announce the passing of Gloria Susanne Kinner (nee Kowal) October 9, 2023 with her children by her side at Minnedosa Health Centre at the age of 82 years.
She was predeceased by her husband Donald Kinner and her parents Eugene and Theodora Kowal. Gloria is lovingly remembered by her children Glen, Cheryl, Tracy, and Lise; her grandchildren Kevin, Kaedin, Isla, Lachlan, Ethan, Seaton, Alex, Kalina, Benjamin, and Timothy; Her sisters Elsie, Lillian, Marilyn, Nadine, Jeannie, Helen, and Evelyn, Brother-in-law Edward Kinner, numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Gloria was born in Wakaw, Saskatchewan and raised on the farm near Tarnopol. She completed Teacher’s College and she fondly recalled several years teaching in Alberta, Saskatchewan and Northwest Territories. She married Don in 1967 and they raised their family in the West Kildonan area of Winnipeg. Gloria was active in her kids schools, Curling, and gardening. She worked many years at the local Safeway Bakeshop. During this time Gloria also completed a Degree at UofM. She always enjoyed learning and returned in her retirement years for more studies in Ukrainian History. She loved speaking in Ukrainian and teaching her kids and grandkids many aspects of her heritage.
In retirement, Gloria stayed active with many social groups, Line dancing, her retirees club and some travelling. She enjoyed many years with her young grandchildren, always with the desire to teach and guide them. Gloria was often generous and always thinking of others, wanting to give and put their needs above her own. She was a loving mom, made the world a greater place and she will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Her service will be on Saturday, October 21, 2023 at 11:30 am at St. Joseph’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, 250 Jefferson Ave, Winnipeg. Viewing will be the evening prior Friday, October 20, 2023 from 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm at Cropo, 1442 Main St. Winnipeg. A private Interment will follow at a later date.
