PAT HENNE

Obituary of PAT HENNE

Patricia Susan Henne (Pat)

11 January 1941 – 14 October 2023

With her loving family at her side, Patricia Henne (nee Collins), our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunty, and friend passed away peacefully after a long illness on October 14, 2023, at 82 years of age.

Pat was born and raised in Transcona and later met her future husband and soulmate, Doug, in 1961 and they remained together until Doug’s passing in 2020.

Laughter and family were important to Pat, even more so when both intersected. Family gatherings were often crowded and entertaining affairs, containing lots of food, conversation, and laughter. Annual Grey Cup celebrations were a favorite pastime for her (Go Bombers!). Known as ‘Granny Peekie’ by her great-grandchildren, Pat loved her family more than anything. Her love and generosity were unconditional. But anyone who crossed paths with Pat likely experienced a barrage of beverage or food options whenever they visited her. Pat’s cooking was legendary, with frequent requests especially for her sweet and sour spareribs. She appreciated the simple things in life: slide and movie nights, her cottage, Tim’s tea, traveling to visit family, music, Jimmy Kimmel, crossword puzzles, and cryptoquotes.

Pat was predeceased by her beloved Doug in June 2020. She was also predeceased by her parents, Richard and Pauline Collins, her sisters Ruth Langford and Lorraine Martynuk, and in-laws Charles and Thelma Henne.

Pat is survived by her children; Dave, Don, and Karen (Abe); grandchildren, Melissa (Ferd), Matthew (Amber), Jimmy (Ashley), Jason, Emma, and Cora; and great-grandchildren, Jayden, Jaxon, Ava, and Grant. She also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and close friends, including her sister-in-law Barb (Sean), her brother-in-law Rich (Janet) and her niece Joanne (Peter).

The family wishes to acknowledge Dr. Michael Hochman whose concern and compassion for Pat was shown throughout her illness. Pat also had a long and special relationship with her palliative care nurse, Anita Pries, whose kindness, compassion, and support brought peace and solace for Pat.

Flowers are gratefully declined. Please consider donating to CancerCare Manitoba in Pat’s memory. Cremation has taken place at Pat’s request. A Celebration of Life will be forthcoming.

We love you, and we will miss you. Forever.
