Obituary of DEANNA CAROL FEAKES
Deanna Carol Feakes
Peacefully, in the early morning hours of October 15, 2023, Deanna Carol Feakes passed away at Riverview Health Centre.
She was predeceased by her son Dodd, parents Frank and Anne Tront, and brothers Stan, Bill, Frank, and Bruce.
She leaves to mourn her passing husband Dave, sons Dean (Karen) and Dwayne (Charlene), and brother Glen. She also leaves grandchildren Daniel, Rheanna, (and their mother, Kim), Darian, and Alexandra.
A Boxing Day baby, Deanna was born at St. Boniface Hospital, but spent her early years in Cook’s Creek, Manitoba. She would proudly tell everyone that she attended one room Zora School. After leaving Cook’s Creek for the bright lights of Winnipeg with friends where she worked at Eaton’s mail order. She met Dave, and they were married in October of 1962. A year and a half later, the first of three sons, Dean was born. Three years later, Dwayne was born, followed by Dodd a year later. The family settled in Transcona, where Deanna stayed home until the youngest was in school, and then went back to work at Beaver Lumber. She later accepted a job at Service Canada, where she worked until retirement, making many lifelong friends.
A cabin in Sandy Hook was purchased in the 90’s, and everybody in the family enjoyed going there, but none more than Deanna. She enjoyed the peace and quiet while reading a book, sitting on the deck having coffee, welcoming friends and family, or enjoying one of her ever-present puzzle books.
Wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Deanna put all of us first before herself. She was a true supporter of all those she loved. An avid gardener, an awesome cook (especially perogies and cabbage rolls), and lover of all things four legged taking in many puppies that just needed extra love.
She will always be loved and never forgotten.
Many thanks to St. Boniface Hospital 5E, and the palliative care unit at Riverview. Your efforts are greatly appreciated.
Flowers gratefully declined. Instead, please consider a donation to the Winnipeg Humane Society, or the Riverview Health Centre.
As per Deanna’s request, no formal service will be held. A private family service will be held at a later date.
