Obituary of MARIA NIEMCZYK
Maria Niemczyk (Tudryn)
On October 28, 2023, our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Maria passed away peacefully at home with family by her side at the age of 101 and 7 months.
Now reunited with her husband, Emil, sons Stanislaw and Tadeusz; parents Katarzyna and Michal, brothers Ignacy, Roman, and Bronislaw. Left to cherish her memory is her loving family. Maria is survived by her children; Kazimiera (Andrzej), Stanislawa (Jan), Katarzyna (Tadeusz), Jan, daughter in laws Janina and Maria, 13 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, nephews, nieces, many family members in Poland and USA and extended family.
Maria was born in Przychojec, Lezajsk, Poland and came to Winnipeg in October of 1985. Her devotion to the family consumed much of her days. Gardening and grandchildren were her pride and joy.
Maria was a devout Catholic belonging to Holy Ghost Parish since her arrival in Canada and did not go a day without praying.
In her spare time, Babcia loved to watch Price is Right, Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy, Wrestling, and various soap operas. Even though her English was very sparse, she would excitedly count “1,2,3” when wrestlers were pinned down. Her favorite wrestlers were The Undertaker, Hulk Hogan, Bushwhackers, Bret Hart, Owen Hart, and Razor Ramon. Maria loved to sing at any celebrations. She also enjoyed home cooking, making perogies, cabbage rolls, nalesniki and soups. Babcia spent most of her days raising her grandchildren whom she cherished whole-heartedly. Every day, she would walk or bike long distances to pick them up from the bus stop after school. She was very creative with teaching and writing poems with her grandchildren.
Babcia was a very giving person and did not want anything in return. Maria always had a smile on her face and her absence will be deeply felt.
Rosary at 9:30 a.m. and Mass of Christian burial will follow at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, November 2, 2023 at Holy Ghost Church, 341 Selkirk Avenue. Interment to follow. Celebration of life to follow.
