Obituary of HAZEL LORRAINE KLYNE
HAZEL LORRAINE KLYNE
August 20, 1950 – November 12, 2023
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend Hazel Klyne (Tataryn) at the age of 73 years old after a courageous battle with cancer.
Hazel will be forever missed by her beloved husband of 47 years, Robert (Bob); sons Clayton (Gloria) and Chad (Jenny); grandchildren Lin and San; brothers Reno (Lorna) and Davy (Lise) in addition to numerous extended family and friends. Hazel was pre-deceased by her parents David and Helen Tataryn.
Hazel was born in Preeceville, Saskatchewan on August 20th, 1950 and lived in a log cabin on her grandfather’s homestead near Endeavour before moving to the family farm in Tadmore, SK 4 years later. The first of three children born to David and Helen Tataryn, followed by her 2 younger brothers Reno then Davy. Growing up on the farm, she attended primary at a one-room schoolhouse in Tadmore. Hazel had an incredibly strong work ethic. Waking up at the crack of dawn, Reno and Hazel would be responsible for milking the cows and feeding the livestock. It wasn’t long before Hazel figured out that cooking for family meals meant getting into the kitchen which was much more enjoyable than being out of the fields.
Hazel attended high school and graduated in Canora SK before moving to Saskatoon on her own in 1968. She worked at numerous jobs including the Quaker Oats Factory. Several years later, Reno followed in his older sister’s footsteps and moved to Saskatoon.
In 1972, Hazel moved to Winnipeg where she was employed with The International Inn. It was here where she had met Bob and became good friends. Bob was one of the chefs and Hazel a waitress, who definitely caught his eye. They started dating and not long afterwards were engaged. They were married on October 30, 1976 and enjoyed a beautiful life together of 47 years. She and Bob also purchased a cottage at Caddy Lake where they spent many fine summers basking in nature. Throughout the years Hazel found herself working at different jobs including the Marigold Restaurant then spent around 24 years employed with Shelter Canadian Properties Limited where she had met many of her best friends.
They were blessed with twin boys, Clayton and Chad on November 27, 1977. The boys were Hazel's greatest gifts and brought so much joy to her life. She was an incredible mother and becoming a grandmother brought her overwhelming happiness. She lived for her Facetimes with Chad and his family in New Zealand and loved sharing fun stories about Clayton’s adventures. She was most proud of the men they have become and most fond of her husband whom she had referred to as her angel. She spent her final days at the Grace Hospice where she was so truly thankful for the wonderful friends and family she had in her life.
The memorial service will be held on Monday, November 20th 10:00 am at Cropo Funeral Chapel, located at 1442 Main Street.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or Grace Hospice.
