GEORGE WILLIAM ZACHANOWICH
George William Zachanowich was born on November 1, 1941 in Minitonas-Bowsman, Manitoba. He lived an amazing and fulfilled life despite a 40-year battle with liver disease. Upon contracting covid and pneumonia his indomitable spirit beat them both, but it was one fight that his liver could not endure. He passed away peacefully, embraced by the presence of his devoted wife Trish and daughter Susan by his side on December 3rd, 2023. He was 82 years of age.
George is survived by his eternal love of his life Trish, his younger siblings, sister Sally (Barry), brother Harry (Susan). His son Mark (Vicki), and their two sons, Nicholas (Nicole) and Eric (Brooke). His daughter Susan (Tim) along with many extended loving family members and loyal friends.
An extraordinary father, he loved his family so very much. His positivity always illuminated those around him to be the best that they can be and to believe in themselves. He was a true entrepreneur, building a successful grocery business, together with owning a restaurant and other real estate investments. He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing and spending time at the lake. Most of all, he treasured the time he spent with his family and friends. Many fond memories were spent in Chandler, Arizona over the Canadian winter months. Most recently in their current home on the water in Prince Edward County, Ontario the breathtaking sunset views, white swans and other water fowl brought him such joy and gratitude.
Throughout his life, George was an amazing international ballroom dancer and competed with his wife Trish. He loved his dancing! His infectious sense of humor, coupled with an ever-ready repertoire of jokes, brought joy to every gathering. George's delivery and laughter, especially at his own jokes, became a cherished prelude to the punchline.
Friends and family are invited to honor George's memory at a funeral on Monday, December 11th, at 1:00 pm, at the Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street in Winnipeg.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Belleville Hospital, ICU in George's name, as a tribute to a life well-lived and a man deeply loved.
We give great thanks, love and appreciation to all of the doctors, nurses and staff who gave him such spectacular care. We are deeply grateful.
