Obituary of LOUISE FLORIANNE KING
LOUISE FLORIANNE KING (NEE GUÉNETTE)
APRIL 14, 1933 – MARCH 21, 2013
Peacefully with her family by her side after a courageous battle with cancer, Louise King, a month shy of her 80th birthday.
Louise is survived by her daughter Lisagh and her son Jack, sister Denise Boissonneault, brothers Lucien (Claudette), Andy (Peggy) and Bernard (Diane), sister-in-law Edith (King) Simpson, several nieces and nephews, notably Brigitte, Pierre (Monica) and Serge Guénette, and special friends Lara, Dale and Riley Avery.
Predeceased by husband Ralph, parents Herménégilde and Anita (Lafond), sister Alice and brothers Armand and Philippe.
Louise traveled the world extensively, setting foot on six of the seven continents. While raising her children she parlayed her love of fashion to working in several upscale women’s clothing boutiques. She then gained her Certified Financial Planner designation and worked at Investors Group from 1989 until 2004. She joined the Rotary Club of Winnipeg West in 1991 and spent her retirement volunteering for Winnipeg Harvest and other charities. Louise was a long-time parishioner of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church.
Special thanks to the team at CancerCare Manitoba for the past six years. At the very end she was true to her nature by thinking of others. So in lieu of flowers, it was Louise’s wish that donations be made in her name to Winnipeg Harvest.
Prayers will be held Sunday, March 24 at 7:00 p.m. and Funeral Mass with celebration of life at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 25 both at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 4588 Roblin Blvd.
