Obituary of MARIE BERNICE RICHARD

Marie Bernice Richard

October 9, 1960 – December 22, 2023

It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Marie Bernice Richard of Winnipeg, MB on December 22, 2023, at Saint Boniface hospital surrounded by her loved ones at her side.

Marie was born October 9th, 1960, to Agnes and William Richard in Ericksdale, Manitoba. One of fourteen children. After moving to Winnipeg in 1970, she attended Aberdeen School with her siblings but decided to place her education on hold to help raise her brothers and sisters while her father worked for the railway. Marie did proudly graduate at the age of 40 with her mature diploma from RB Russell Vocational School in 2000. Throughout her education journey, she landed many jobs in the cleaning and restaurant industry, it was also during this time that Marie found her passion for gathering with friends and family and enjoying a great card game, which she’d continue to be involved in until her passing. Her favorite line was when I’m gone, scatter my ashes above the bingo halls, so I can play one last time.

In, 1980 she met the love of her Life, Greg Lapointe and they went on to have three children Krystle, Christopher and Timothy.

When Marie had her first child Krystle, she decided to dedicate her Life to being a fantastic and wonderful mother. Marie triumphed at motherhood and was the foundation of her family, through and through. She was an excellent gift giver, always knew the right thing to say, patient, caring, never missed a celebration, always cooked a Sunday roast dinner and always loved to tell a story, sometimes you would wonder if it was true or not as it seemed mythical, but that was Marie. Whether it was supporting Christpher through fishing or encouraging Timothy to pursue a Trade, she was our constant cheerleader and supporter.

Marie was a passionate person who enjoyed Life and all its gifts, and when she wasn’t filling her home with family dinners, the smell of pine-sol through the air and card games, she could be found having coffee with family and friends and discussing the latest family gossip with a twinkle in her eye as she had a new story to share.

Marie was predeceased by her parents, Agnes and William, her brothers, David, Donald, her sisters, Dorothy, Margaret, Kathleen, Ruthie, Bernice, her sister- in- law Barb, her brother- in- law Brian, her nephews William (BJ), Brandon and her niece Brandi. She is survived by her husband, Greg , her children Krystle (Robert), Christopher, Timothy, honorary son Bryson, grandchildren, Cadence, McKenzie, Christa, Trista, Christian, David, Joshua and Jacob, as well as her sisters Lillian (Joe), Jennie (Robert), brothers, Clifford, Marcel, Alex, Fred, sister in law, Donna, brothers- in- law, Mervin, Gilbert, Donnie as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.
