Obituary of CAROLYN MAUREEN SMITH

Carolyn Maureen Smith (Cooper)

December 14, 1941-January 2, 2024

It is with profound sadness we share that our Mother, Grandma, Great Grandma, Auntie, Sister-in-Law and Friend passed away suddenly on January 2nd, 2024.

Mom will be lovingly remembered by son Ward (Teresa), daughter Cara (Blaine), son Clayton (Shara), son Tyler (Sandy). Her grandchildren, Michael (Brittany), Kyle (Kathy), Kaitlyn, Kelsey, Hailey (Austin), Talor (Sky), Emily (Jake), Ben (Hope), Jay and Brett. Her great grandchildren, Logan, Lucille and Joseph. Sister-in-law to Lawry and Gloria, Marion and Marlene.

Mom was predeceased by her loving husband and our father, Leonard, in July of 2023. Her parents Joseph and Mildred, brothers Russell, Jack, Doug and sister Norma.

Mom was a civil servant and worked for the provincial government. There she made many friends, those friendships continued after she retired.

Mom was the Matriarch of our family. We always knew that she was there for all of us at any time. Whenever anyone came over, she made sure everyone was well fed. The kitchen was where so many memories were made. When Mom told us that she was making Beerochs or Meat Pies, she knew we’d all be there to help and taste test. She would beam with so much love and pride when we were together. Mom was also the Master at playing Rummy, no matter how hard we tried, she always took us down and tried not to laugh. She loved doing Christmas baking with her grandchildren every year. Music was always playing in the house and outside. We sang, we danced and we’ll all forever love and miss her famous squeal when she danced.

Mom lived for her family, she had never ending love for all of us. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were everything to her. She loved when they would have sleepovers, she baked with them, took them to the park, swimming, tobogganing and her favourite was going for fries. Mom’s feet could always be seen swinging as she ate her fries, or enjoyed a beer, she was so happy!

We are beyond thankful for the incredible neighbours that she had. They always looked out and helped mom whenever needed. We’re truly grateful to Carol and David, for always being there and the many visits. Mom always looked forward to their company.

We shared so many laughs and tears together and are forever grateful for each and every second that we had with our incredible, loving Mom.

Mom, Mother, Momma, Grandma you’ll never be forgotten and are forever loved. Our hearts are completely broken, to have lost two amazing parents in such a short time. We’ll continue to make you proud. We know that you’re with Dad now, in his arms and dancing. Until we meet again Momma, you’ll be missed beyond words can explain. We love you!

A private interment will be held on a later date
