Judith Jean Hladiuk

(nee Zook)

October 16, 1933 – January 24, 2024

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother and granny.

She will be greatly missed by her children Donald (Marianne) and Rosemarie and her grandchildren Marla (Mike), Natasha (Kris), Nicholas (Jacqueline), Noah (Elise) and Steven. She will also be missed by her two great grandchildren Mila and Aria and many nieces, nephews, extended family and all who knew her.

Judy lost the love of her life, Billie, in 2003 after 49 years of marriage. She was also predeceased by her parents Rose and Joseph and her sister May Margaret Deveau and brother Andrew Zook.

Judy was born and raised in Selkirk, MB. After meeting at a dance, Judy and Billie were married in 1953. Judy worked many years at the Royal Bank of Canada and retired at age 59. She enjoyed travelling and visited her pen pals in Australia, New Zealand, and Italy. She also travelled with her grandchildren and visited her family in Calgary and in Florida.

Judy was always caring and thoughtful of all those she knew acknowledging every special occasion and keeping in touch with extended family, friends, and pen pals from her school days. She never missed a birthday, and her cards were always decorated with lots of colourful stickers. Family was very important to her, and Judy was always happiest when surrounded by the people she loved.

As Judy’s health declined, she was blessed to have been cared for by the wonderful staff at Holy Family Home. The family is very grateful for the staff’s compassion and kindness to Judy.

Funeral service will be held at St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, 737 Bannerman Avenue, on Thursday, February 1, 2024, at 10 a.m. with viewing half hour prior. Interment to follow at Glen Eden Cemetery at 4477 Main Street.

Pallbearers will be Carl Deveau, Christopher Zook, Warren Zook, Nicholas Paulley, Noah Hladiuk and Steven Paulley.
