Obituary of MARIA URANIA DO REGO BARBOSA
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our sister, Maria Urânia do Rego Barbosa, 82, on April 4, 2024.
Urânia was born in Ponta Garça, São Miguel, Açores. She immigrated to Winnipeg in 1970. Urânia was a talented cook and baker. She was known for her beautiful crochet and embroidery skills. She took pride in being the family historian. She cared deeply for animals, and had cats and budgies earlier in life. Most of all, Urânia was known for her deep religious faith.
Urânia is predeceased by her father, Armando Barbosa; Mother, Ernestina do Rego Botelho Barbosa; and siblings Isabela, José, José Donato and Lilisa.
Urânia is survived by her siblings Armanda, Edgardo (Gabriela), Lidia (Higino), Armando (Teresa), Gabriel (Liduina), Octávio, Aristides (Teresa), Luis (Estrela), Mario Jorge, Teofilo (Filomena) and their families.
We would like to thank the staff of the 5th floor of HSC Women’s Hospital for their care and support.
