THIẾT TIỄN

Obituary of THIẾT KHÃ TIỄN

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Thiet Kha Tien who passed away on Saturday, April 20, 2024, at the age of 74. Although an untimely death, he endured bravely until he was able to be surrounded by his family. Thiet was a loving spouse, father, and grandfather who will be greatly missed by his family. He is survived by his wife, Hung Tien, his son, Khanh Tien, and his three grandchildren, Kelvin, Janice, and Jordan Tien.

Thiet Kha Tien was born to parents Lan Thi Chau and Tuyen Tien in Can Tho, Vietnam on November 10, 1950. Throughout his lifetime, he faced many hardships, such as living through the Vietnam War. Although a difficult time, he found joy in his marriage to Hung Tien and in raising his son, Khanh Tien.

He loved his family so fiercely that in 1978, he decided that it was best for them to escape Vietnam to build a new life elsewhere. In 1980, after a long and hard journey, he and his family were finally able to settle in Winnipeg, Manitoba, where he worked tirelessly to give his family a good life. He had a fulfilling career at Monarch Industries where he was able to provide his family with all they needed and where he made many friends.

Throughout his lifetime, his extremely kind and generous demeanor earned him an abundance of friends. He also found comfort and community in his religion as a proud member of Hoi Thanh Tin Lanh Vietnamese Mennonite Church. He will always be remembered as a charismatic, caring, and generous man who always had the biggest and brightest smile in every room he entered. Lastly, Thiet always loved karaoke and ballroom dancing. His enthusiastic singing and dancing will be dearly missed at any future parties and family functions.

A viewing and funeral service will be held for Thiet at Cropo Funeral Chapel at 1442 Main Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba, on April 27, 2024 from 9 am - 4 pm. Immediately following the service, there will also be a prayer and final viewing at the crematorium located at 420 Airport Drive, St. Andrews, Manitoba.

At this time, the family will not be accepting monetary donations. Although, if you would like, family and friends may make a donation in Thiet’s name towards the Heart and Stroke Foundation or Cancer Care Manitoba.
