PAUL ALEXANDER CHORNENKI
1949 – 2024
Paul Chornenki, born March 7, 1949 passed away on May 24, 2024 at the age of 75 in his home at the Polish Manor in Winnipeg.
Paul will be sadly missed by his sister Marie McKelvey (husband Bill) and many family members.
He was predeceased by his parents Nick and Mary, and sister Patricia.
Paul was born in Selkirk Manitoba but raised from an early age in Brooklands. Paul always loved sports and at one time played for the Winnipeg Hawkeyes. Paul was educated and graduated high school in Winnipeg. He later attended and graduated from Bemidji State College with a degree in Physical Education. He began his teaching career at Swan River Manitoba, then moved to Winnipeg and taught for the Winnipeg #1 School Division at various schools. He later taught at Little Grand Rapids, where he started and supported a local hockey program. He was always referred to by his students as “Mr C”. When teaching in Winnipeg he did talks at various schools on the importance of physical education.
As a youth he developed a love for fishing and hunting while doing so with his father. This love for the outdoors stayed with him throughout his life. At periods of his life he helped his parents with their business (Brooklands Bakery),
Cremation has taken place and there will be no formal services.
If so wished, donations may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society in his memory.
