Obituary of MANUEL XAVIER FERNANDES
Manuel Xavier Fernandes passed away peacefully on June 3, 2024, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada at the age of 77 years. He was predeceased by his father, Anthony Fernandes and mother, Felician Fernandes.
Manuel is lovingly remembered by his brothers Maximo Fernandes and Patrick Fernandes, and his sister Flory Kreutter, MD. He is survived by his nieces: Chantelle Kreutter, Danielle Kreutter, Gabby Kreutter, Trina Fernandes, and Brittany Fernandes as well as his nephews: Ryan Fernandes, Shawn Fernandes, Jordan Fernandes and Jimmy Kreutter.
He was born and raised in Karachi, Pakistan. He lived in the FCCHS for many years. He graduated from Saint Patrick School and College. In the mid 1970's he immigrated to Winnipeg, Canada. After retiring from Bell Manitoba Telephone System, Manuel joined the rest of the Fernandes Clan in the USA.
Manuel was an esteemed 4th degree member of Knights of Columbus and a loyal parishioner of St. Peter's Church in Winnipeg, Manitoba and Church of the Risen Christ in Denver, Colorado. He was very dedicated and faithful to his strong religious beliefs. He was an enthusiastic cricket aficionado, a volunteer at the local food bank and a caring owner to his best companion, his dog Prince. He will be missed by many people in various organizations.
The family especially wants to thank Monsignor Mike Nwosu, Carlos Bergantim, Emile Paul and Arun Sharma for their support and care for our dear Manuel.
A prayer vigil and visitation will be held on Tuesday June 18 at Cropo Funeral Chapel at 1442 Main St, Winnipeg, MB starting at 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Prayers will be held at 7:00 p.m. A liturgy and Holy Mass service will be held on Wednesday, June 19 at 12:00 p.m. noon at St. Peter's Church 2624 Inkster Blvd, Winnipeg, MB with Monsignor Mike Nwosu presiding. Following the service, the interment will be at Brookside Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Peter's Church in the name of Manuel Fernandes.
