Dear Pat & family,
I was sad to read of Joe's passing & recall what good neighbors you were at Webb Place. You were such a fun couple and I know how much you both enjoyed the block. Michael is out of the country, so I will not be able to come to the funeral, but you are in my thoughts.

I am writing to express my sincere condolences to Pat and all of Joe's family and friends.
I first met Joe when he taught grade 6 at Queenston Elementary School and I taught grade 6 at Riverview School, both in the southern portion of the Winnipeg School Division. Joe and I shared not only a love of teaching, but a love of coaching our respective students in soccer, softball, speedskating and a other sports. Over what seemed like a lot of seasons, our school teams inevitably faced each other in playoffs, and Joe and I developed a mutual respect and actually enjoyed the yearly competitions!
Soon we became friends as well as opponents, and served on committees of mutual interest and began a new and always fun competitive challenge for both of us on various municipal golf courses. As time passed, we both became Principals, and Joe even had my youngest daughter as one of his appreciative students!
While we did not have as regular contact as I would have liked after our retirements, Joe and I did find some time to enjoy some golf games and a lot of laughs together. Recently I had been trying unsuccessfully to get in touch again for that very purpose and was so distressed when hearing of his passing! I treasure the memories of the good times! Joe was a great guy!!

Mr.Scott was my principal at River Heights during a transitional time. I started a new school, of course endured the usual teenage drama, joined late French Immersion... and not a single one of my elementary school friends had joined the program with me. Mr.Scott was not only a kind and gentle administrator, but I later found out he was a friend to my dad (Charlie Brown). He was sure to say hello and ask me how my day was going, and his thoughtfulness went a long way in growing my confidence and self esteem. He encouraged me to join the choir and try out for the school musicals, and I will forever be thankful for that.

A message of sympathy and gratitude. Pat and Joe have had such a full and loving life, a fabulous family, great friends and yet, with all the demands on their life, it was Pat and Joe who answered my desperate call the night my husband Ivan passed away and their support and friendship continues to this day.
My husband and I were fortunate enough to be included in the fun and friendship of the Scott’s social circle, both in Winnipeg and Florida. An epic outing to St. Augustine still brings Pat and I to tears of laughter. Joe made us laugh, he had a great sense of humour; his eyes, face and delivery were truly unique.
Even after I moved to Vancouver, Pat and Joe continued to provide friendship and support. They made 3 trips to visit, one was an Alaska cruise, the last in August 2019, coming by train. It was on that last visit that Joe decided he would try to sincerely apologize for blowing in my ear as a greeting. Pat and I assured him it was okay as it made our friendship kind of special, in spite of the ear drum damage!
I know the pictures and memories I have with Pat and Joe will bring some tears at this time, but I also know the memories will bring smiles, and Pat and I will continue to reminisce, ending each FaceTime with our special friend ritual. I will be forever grateful for having Pat and Joe in my life.
My sincere condolences, Heather Biblow McDougall
