Obituary of EDITH GREEN
EDITH GREEN
1927-2024
On August 10, 2024, Edith left us peacefully at the age of 96. The last of a generation of our family.
Edith was predeceased by her father Fred Emms in 1985 at 94 years old, her mother Blanche Anne Emms in 1991 at 89 years old, and husband Bill Green in 1998 at 76 years old.
She is survived by daughters Linda (John) Neufeld, Peggy (Randy) Rentz, granddaughters Tammy, Cindy (Norm), Deena, Carla (Sean), Tannis (Ken), great grandchildren Cole, Jade, Quinn, Jacob, Alec, nephew Fred (Victoria), and many friends.
Edith was born on December 26, 1927 in Millbrook Springfield, Manitoba. She lived there with her family until she married Bill Green on June 8, 1946. They moved to Monominto on the farm. Bill and Edith left farming and built their forever home in Transcona and moved in July of 1953.
Edith lived independently in her home until moving to Transcona Place in June of 2013. Edith had great love for her family, friends, animals, and of course flowers and gardening were her passion. Edith’s helpful nature and reluctance to sit still meant she was always willing to be the babysitter for her grandchildren and great grandchildren, including looking after the family pets. Edith had a love for crafting and working with her hands; she taught all of her granddaughters and great granddaughter how to knit. She liked her friends’ breakfast group and shuffle board nights at Transcona Place.
Edith was an avid Goldeyes baseball fan and enjoyed following curling. Edith adored feeding the birds and bunny rabbits which helped fulfill her love for animals.
Throughout her long and fulfilling life, Edith was known for her warmth, kindness and generous spirit. Her legacy of love, strength and grace will continue to inspire all who knew her. Edith was there for everyone whenever they needed her, including many conversations over a cup of tea.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Transcona Legion #7, The Heart and Stroke Foundation, or St. George’s Anglican Church Transcona.
