Obituary of FRANK JAKOB MAYER

Frank passed away peacefully with family by his side on August 15, 2024 at St. Boniface Hospital, at the age of 93 years.

He was predeceased by his parents Karl and Maria and brother Roland (Gertrude).

Frank is lovingly remembered by his wife of 66 years, Josephine; children, Teresa (Jim), Chris (Wendy), John (Laurie), Paul (Tara); grandchildren, Darren (Courtney), Michael (Olya), Brittany (Patrick), Garett, Robyn, Sydney, Nathaniel, Nicholas and Patrick; great grandchildren, Dean, Clark, Jack, Hope and Simon.

He also leaves his sisters, Elisabeth (Joe) and Gisela (Ferdinand); brother, Johann (Ursela) and many other extended family members.

Frank was born in a small town in Poland. At the age of 14 he started his butcher apprenticeship.  He came to Winnipeg in 1957 and found work at Eatons and later at Loblaws working his way up to be a meat supervisor for Manitoba and Ontario.  In 1974 he started his own business Bavarian Village Deli and in 1984 Bavarian Meat and Sausage. In retirement he enjoyed fishing, bowling, travelling and was a self taught and gifted woodcarver and leathercrafter.

Frank was proud of his children and their accomplishments and was happy to spend time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

The family thanks Holy Family Home for their kindness and compassion.

A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, August 26, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, 355 Andrews Street, Winnipeg.
