Obituary of RUTH GLORIA KELLY

RUTH GLORIA MAY KELLY (PRUDEN)

1927 - 2024

It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Ruth Gloria May Kelly (Pruden) on August 27, 2024 at the age of 96 years.

Ruth was born in Selkirk, Manitoba where she had fond memories of growing up with her 7 sisters, (Victoria, Alice, Madeline, Virginia, Georgia, Carol, and Heather) and 2 brothers (Bill and Jean).  She moved to Winnipeg to find employment and married  her loving husband, John (Jack) Norbert Kelly of 62 years.  She eventually became a full time homemaker to happily raise her 4 daughters Jennette, Jeanenne, Colleen and Madeline.  Her talents will never be forgotten:  artistically with her beautiful paintings; sewed all of our clothes; was a fantastic baker (especially her fudge); and beating us at scrabble and card games.  Mom loved spending summers at Falcon Lake with us girls, dad, her relatives and friends. She always welcomed everyone with her love and kindness.  She also loved returning to Selkirk, Manitoba to visit with her sisters and relatives every Sunday, making sure a picnic basket was prepared to be shared by all.  She will be remembered as a selfless individual, caring for everyone else before herself.

She is predeceased by her parents Ambrose and Geogrianna Pruden (Monkman) numerous siblings, her loving husband John (Jack) Norbert Kelly and her daughter Colleen.  Left to cherish her memories are her daughters Jennette, Jeanenne, Madeline, 8 grand children, 6 great grand children and her sisters Georgia and Carol.

We graciously thank the staff of Donwood Manor in taking good care of mom for the past two years. Every day mom would visit all residents in their rooms and greeted them with a smile.  She was the most fun loving, compassionate and caring person to all who knew her.

Ruth, may you rest in peace with dad and our sister that we loved so dearly.  You may be gone but your spirit will live in our hearts and minds forever.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to CancerCare Manitoba.

The family welcomes you to celebrate her life at St. Anne Anglican Church, 253 Burrin Ave. on Friday, September 6 at 5:00 p.m.
