Obituary of MARIA ISABEL VIEIRA SEBASTIAO

Maria Isabel Sebastiao, born in Giesteira, Fatima Portugal, on June 17, 1938, passed away peacefully in her sleep on September 24, 2024, at the age of 86. She was a beloved wife, mother, sister, and friend who touched the lives of all who knew her.

Maria Isabel is survived by her beloved husband of 63 years, Herminio P. Sebastiao. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with love and devotion. She is also survived by her daughter Natalina P. Sebastiao, who was her greatest joy.

Her love for her family was immeasurable.  She cherished the time spent with her large and extended family. She is remembered for her warmth, kindness, and the unconditional love she gave to all around her. She loved cooking, sewing, crocheting; and found strength in her devotion to her faith.

Maria Isabel was predeceased by her parents, Mariana and Jose Prazeres, and by her siblings, Maria Zulmira, and Antonio Jose.

Maria Isabel is survived by five siblings and their spouses; along with many nieces, nephews, and extended family members. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to know her.

The family would also like to express their gratitude to the St. Boniface Hospital Palliative Care Unit and Residence Despins for their kindness and care.

Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Saturday, September 28 at 10:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church at 181 Austin Street North with viewing commencing one hour prior.  Burial will take place in Assumption Roman Catholic Cemetery, 3990 Portage Avenue West.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the St. Boniface Hospital Foundation – Palliative Care, in honor of Maria Isabel Sebastiao.

She will forever be in our hearts and remembered for the legacy of love and strength she leaves behind.
