Obituary of DANIEL de SOUSA
DANIEL MACHADO de SOUSA
It is with deepest sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved husband, father, and grandfather, Daniel Machado de Sousa on April 15, 2013.
Daniel was born in Ponte Delgada Acores Portugal on February 27, 1933. He immigrated to Canada in 1961, followed by his wife and daughters in 1965.
He leaves to mourn his wife of 57 years Laurinda, his children Maria, Connie (Fernando), Lucy, Daniel (Cynthia), Manuel (Charlotte) and grandchildren Justin, Brittany, Dylan, Brennan, Daniel, Matthew, Serena, Ericka, sister-in-laws Conceicao, Gloria and many nieces and nephews. Daniel was pre-deceased by his parents Daniel Sr. and Conceicao, his son Duarte Manuel, his brothers Manuel, Bento, Edwin and Humberto, sisters Conceicao, Andrina, sisters-in-law Maria Ilda, Isaltina, Evelina, Noemia and brothers-in-law Manuel Antonio, Anibal da Silva and Jose Martins.
Daniel retired from construction in 1997. In his retirement he enjoyed spending time with his family, camping, gardening, fishing and taking Luca and Daisy for walks.
We’d like to express our thanks to the Firefighters and Paramedics for their care and compassion. We’d also like to thank all our relatives and friends who have offered their prayers and support during this difficult time.
Prayer Service will be held on Friday, April 19 at 8:00 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, 181 Austin St. N. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, April 20 at 10:00 a.m also at the Church with Rev. Msgr. Maurice J. Comeault. P.H. officiating. Interment will take place at Assumption Roman Catholic Cemetery, 3990 Portage Ave. Pallbearers will be Fernando and Justin Francisco, Dylan and Brennan Whyte, Daniel and Matthew de Sousa, Manuel Sousa and Brent Dudeck.
In Lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be greatly appreciated.
