Obituary of MARGARET DRALL

MARGARET DRALL
1935-2024

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Margaret Drall of Winnipeg, on October 3, 2024 at the age of 88 years. She passed away peacefully at home with family by her side.  The family wish to thank the staff at Kildonan Personal Care Centre for their attention and compassionate care during her last days.

Margaret, or Marge as most of her friends knew her, grew up in Elmwood.  After entering adulthood, she worked as a typesetter for the Winnipeg Free Press.  She fell in love with the late Robert Drall and was married in 1957.  They began their married life in Garden City where they lived in the same house for over 60 years.

Margaret was a stay-at-home mom for most of her life.  She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed baking cookies, cakes and other desserts which were loved by family, friends and neighbours.  Bacon buns, hamburger buns and spicy dill pickles were some of the family favourites.

She had a passion for giving and sharing.  She would send baking to friends and neighbours and “care” packages to family for years.  She also volunteered at seniors’ homes where she would read stories, tell jokes, play music and bring treats for the residents.

Unfortunately, Margaret was diagnosed with Alzheimer's in 2020.  This disease was very tough on everyone that knew her as we watched this strong-willed independent woman need increasingly more care as her memories and cognitive abilities began to slip away.

Margaret leaves behind her two sons, Darrin (Gisele) of Calgary, Darcy (Lucainn) of Winnipeg, two granddaughters, Kelsea (Jake) of Edmonton and Ashleigh (Colton) of Calgary and most recently a great grandson Wesley of Edmonton, all of whom she loved very much.  She was predeceased by her husband of over 63 years, her mother and father, Martha and Peter, and her brother, Edward.

Margaret/Mom/Granny will be missed and always loved by her family, friends, and neighbours that got to know her.  Many thanks to Kildonan Personal Care Centre and River Ridge 2 who helped Margaret over the last few years and months.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Margaret’s name to the Alzheimer's Society or a charity of your choice.
