IRENE WOZNY

Obituary of IRENE HELEN WOZNY

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Irene Wozny (Duda) on October 9, 2024.

Irene was born at Grace Hospital on September 6, 1940, to John and Mary Duda in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

She will lovingly be remembered by her three daughters, Kimberley Wozny (Bailey) of Ontario, Shelley (Richard) Fisher of Ontario, Cassandra (Rick) Mackenzie of British Columbia; son Robert Wozny (Lisa) of Winnipeg; granddaughters Sigourney, (Kim’s daughter) Gwyneth (Shelley’s daughter), Livia and Jovan (Rob’s daughters), and her two young great grandchildren, Sigourney’s daughter Audrey and son Jack.

Irene met the love of her life Robert, Wozny dancing the Jive in 1957. They were married on Feb 7th, 1959.  Sadly, Robert Wozny passed November 2, 2018.

Irene started her first working career as a hairdresser, until she started having more children.

When Bob and Irene's 'second family' came along (third daughter and son) they bought a place at Granite Lake, ON and spent almost 20 years cottage vacationing there. Those were some of the best years of Bob, Irene, and her family's lives.

Irene was a loving and devoted daughter caring for her parents through sickness and health in their declining years.

Irene’s giving and caring ways saw her volunteer at Bethesda Personal Care home for 10 years.

Once her children were grown, Irene went back to school to upgrade her office skills and then worked at Richardsons Greenshields for 15 years until she retired. Irene really enjoyed her colleagues and work life.

Irene’s loves throughout her life were her children, grandchildren, cooking for her family, dancing, doing crossword puzzles, going for walks with Bob in Kildonan Park and going to granite lake.

We would like to thank and acknowledge the caring and kind PSW  at Riverwood Square: Grace and Sue.

We would like to thank all the staff on C3 at Riverview Health Centre. Their loving care and professionalism made mom laugh. They took expert and excellent care of her though difficult and declining health.

Lastly, we would like to express our deepest gratitude to Noelle; Irene’s care companion. Noelle’s generosity, caring, kindness and gentle ways gave Irene so much comfort in her last year. Noelle made Irene laugh, helped with her room, took her for walks and took her to the many events at Riverview with her group of friends. Noelle was like family to Irene.

Irene and Bob have now been reunited and will share a new happiness together forever.

A private memorial will be held by her family. If desired, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, CancerCare Manitoba, or Diabetes Canada.
