Obituary of WINIFRED (WINNIE) PULLEN

Winifred (Winnie) Pullen

August 29, 1930 - November 6, 2024

It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of their beloved Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother Winnie at the age of 94.

Our beautiful Mom Winnie is lovingly remembered by her children David (Janet), Joan (Ray), Carol (Brent), Diane (Tom), Janet (Rob), grandchildren Michael (Michelle), Jonathon (Terrina), Audrey (Greg), Theresa (Bill), Matthew (Stephanie), Michelle (Trent), Lauren (Matt), and 13 great-grandchildren Katlyn (Riley), Drexler, Tyson (Raiya), Landon, Payton, Anabel, Ethan, Memphis, Braxton, Emily, Elliana, Wesleigh, Winslow and 4 great-great grandchildren Holden, Mackenzie, Mayla and Mave.  Mom was predeceased by her dear husband John and recently by her loving grandson Ryan.  Mom is also survived and remembered with love by relatives in England. She enjoyed her trips back to England to visit her siblings and their families as well as Dad’s cousin Ruth and her family.

Mom was born August 29,1930, in London, England, the youngest of 8 siblings to Elizabeth and George Lawson.  Early years were difficult especially during WWII when Mom and youngest brother Frank were sent to the countryside to escape the bombings in London. After the war, Mom worked in dressmaking and later used her skills to sew outfits for her young family.  Mom met her husband John in 1948 and they married in 1951.   John and Winnie immigrated to Winnipeg in 1957 with their  two oldest children and continued to grow their family and built their home in Transcona spending many happy years together raising their family.  We cherish many fond memories of gathering with family and friends and camping in the Whiteshell. After Dad’s passing in 2005, Mom enjoyed the company of their dog Harley and eventually moved to Kildonan Green and spent the last two years in Devonshire House.  Mom loved gardening and flowers and enjoyed sitting out on her balcony. She loved watching sports and cheering on the Jets and Bombers as well as game shows.  She loved to participate in the various activities at the facility including exercise classes and flower making.  She most enjoyed chatting with the folks at Devonshire and especially the staff and homecare workers who treated her with such love and kindness. The family is grateful for their love and support.   Special thanks to Dr. Sikora and all the healthcare professionals who provided much needed support during Mom’s various health issues over the years.

A private family celebration will be held as per Mom’s wishes.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Winnipeg Humane Society or charity of your choice gratefully appreciated.

 Always in our thoughts.

 Forever in our hearts. ❤️
