You were my Father, Mother, my grandmother, best friend and confidant and in the last years my child. My heart aches for you, my eyes water and my thoughts are deep with sorrow and memories. You gave birth to me at 42 and you were always there in my need. I was always over protective of you and you knew you could always count on me. I am truly lost and the hurt is very strong. To the family of Ms. Hayda - no words can take away the pain and loss you are all feeling. I can't find the words to express during this difficult time. I hope that you find comfort in knowing how much people care by the many Tributes posted.
I hope it's okay to share just a few of my memories of Ms. Hayda which go way back to when I was 12 years old, so a long time ago. She was friends with my grandma, Albina Purkard. I remember the daily phone calls between them, talking German loudly, and sharing many stories of their homeland. After my grandmother passed away, I tried to keep in touch, sending Christmas cards, and in return she would send one back, written in German; I didn't have a clue what it said, but was thrilled to receive a card. I would call her on the phone, and she would always yell in the phone: is this the Suzy? Albina's girl? yes it is I would reply, then she would chatter on about what's been going on, all in German of course, I didn't have a clue what we were talking about I understood bits and pieces but again I was happy just to hear her on the other end, she would talk about her cats and family, she would always tell me her son Herb would be fixing this and that, she always wanted to know about my Aunt's and we would visit when we could. The last picture I have was about 8 or 9 years ago, we visited her with my Aunt and sister, she was standing in front of her house on Manitoba Ave, I remember her with a big smile on her face, and that's how I remember her.. a strong, caring, woman. I treasure those memories I have of her, and I hope the memories the family has will help ease their pain. I am so sorry for the loss of such an amazing person, she truly will be missed. My condolences to the family.

Our momma was one of a kind, strong hard working woman determined to provide for her family, she gave us life, nurtured us, taught us, helped us, shouted at us, hugged us, but most importantly loved us unconditionally.
There are not enough words to describe how important our mother was to us and what a powerful influence she continues to be to us.
Remembering her is easy, I do that every day. But there is an ack in my heart that will never go away.
