Obituary of NORMA BORTOLUZZI
Born in Birch River, Manitoba, Mum passed away peacefully on December 10, 2020 at the age of 92.
Norma was predeceased by her loving husband Edward (Chico).
She will forever be remembered by her adoring family: sons Lawrence (Debbie), Brian, Gordon (Janice), and William (Judy) and daughter Kathy (John), her beloved grandchildren Dawn (Payton), Mark (Julie), Amy, Jeff, Charlee and her great-grandchildren Spencer and Harper.
Born Norma Leila Lamb, she was a teacher, bank teller and instructor/lifeguard and a long-time volunteer at the North Winnipeg YMCA. She will be remembered as an outspoken woman with a remarkable list of achievements such as being awarded a life-time membership to any YMCA in the world for her volunteer services to the Aquatics Program. Norma was well-travelled and loved her visits with her children and grandchildren. She loved nature and being in the outdoors whether it was bird watching, camping, golfing, cross-country skiing or jogging. She completed the Manitoba Tin Man marathon at age 60 after completing her first marathon at age 51. A feisty advocate for healthy living, anti-smoking and great cooking, well before it was in vogue.
Having to rely on her bicycle for transportation when dad wasn’t available to drive, Norma persistently pursued attaining her driver’s license, which she finally accomplished at the age of 55, much to the dismay of those had to ride with her!
A Celebration of Her Life will take place via a live broadcast on Wednesday, December 16 at 3:00pm CST. Additional information can be found at www.cropo.com
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in mom’s honour to the Manitoba Marathon, 1479 Dublin Ave, Winnipeg, MB. R3E 3G8, or a charity of your choice.
