Elaine was a dear friend and acquaintance through elementary school, high school, and then as one of the many members of the Transcona Girls Group. She will be so very missed, but always reminisced about amongst the rest of us. In addition, her mother and my mother were also best friends. It was a shock to hear of her passing and we are mourning our loss.
As ever, Val and Tim

The Trochim Family,
I have had the privilege of feeling like a part of this beautiful family for over 30 years having grown up with long time friend, "Lise"/Lisa. Elaine, aka: Mom/Momma Bear, always offered a place of comfort and solace especially as a teenager. The doors of the Trochim-family home (and well-stocked woodland stump kitchen cookie jar) were always open and hugs, laughter, and smiles were given freely to all. Elaine was the kindest, proudest (Momma and GrandMomma), and most loving person you could know. She exuded compassion, led life with passion and faith, and cared deeply for all who had the honor of being a part of her and her family's life.
She always had a shoulder for you to laugh or cry on and would give the shirt off her back if she thought you needed it more. She had a giggle that could light up a room, a smile that could melt anyone's heart, loved nature and animals of every shape and size (especially owls), and made the best "persichke" in the entire world.
Though she has left us too soon, her legacy will live on in all who knew and loved her including her girls/beautiful grand daughter and amazing family and friends. Love you Momma Bear and, yes, we will take care of and love each other. You will never be forgotten, always loved, and forever missed xo. Love Jaylee & Aaron Lesewick

Although I never met Elaine, I was a grateful recipient of one of her delicious Christmas dinners brought to me on Christmas Day many years ago by my friend Lisa, and boy was that dinner good, What a cook, I send now my heartfelt condolences to the family and know I share in your grief and also the memories from stories told by Lisa as we shared our friendship in and out of work, God Bless the family now as you share in your sadness and cherish the memories of a beautiful Mom, keep dancing momma and let the world know your at peace

It was a shock to see Elaine’s name this morning, and a sad reminder of how quickly we age. Before the River East Transcona Teachers’ Association there was the Transcona-Springfield Teachers’ Association, and Elaine was ours first. The TSTA led the way not only for our members, but also for teachers and their associations in other divisions across the province. Robinson Crusoe had “Man Friday” who was so talented and competent he saved Crusoe’s life. Elaine was our metaphorical, if no longer politically correct, “Girl Friday”. We depended on her in so many ways. Your loss is ours, as well. My condolences are balanced by fond memories of deep appreciation.
