Obituary of ELAINE TROCHIM

Tana Elaine Mary Trochim (nee Andrusiak)

June 3, 1941 - January 6, 2023

Elaine passed away peacefully on January 6 surrounded by her loving her family.  A daughter, sister, loving wife, sister-in-law, cousin, mother, grandmother, Aunt, Great Aunt, Great Great Aunt, and friend, Elaine was loved by all who knew her.  She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Dan Trochim, her daughters Carole (Chad)  McMillan and Lisa Trochim, her beautiful granddaughter Emily McMillan,  her “Klips Kids” Barbara  (Cam)McCleod , Lauren and late Blake Delgaty, Keith Klips, Gary(Darlene) Klips, Leslie (Larry) Wishlow, Jacqueline (Michael) Hryciuk, Jan (Al) Trochim, brother-in-law Leonard (Reva) Trochim, and sister-in-law Stella Trochim,  cousins Andrea (Robert) Letkemen, late Ron (Liz) Romance, Gregory (Marilyn) Romance, Joan (Ivan) Sakundiak, numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews. Elaine also had many special friends.

She is predeceased by her grandparents Peter and Tekla Romance, her parents Michael and Mary Andrusiak, father and mother-in-law Nicholas and Lena Trochim, her sister Joan and brother-in-law Jack Klips, sister and brother-in-laws Olga and Tony Manitowich, Michael and Nellie Trochim, Nellie and Norman Apshkrum, Peter Trochim, Bill and Stella Trochim, Joe and Irene Trochim, Julia and Don Lefteruk, her great nephew Cameron Connor McLeod and her dear friend Audreen Barnes.

Elaine was born in Transcona on June 3, 1941.  She spent her youngest years growing up at their family home on Melrose Avenue where she lived with her mother and father, older sister Joan and her grandparents.  She went to Central School and graduated from Business College after high school.  She worked for years at the CPR Railroad as a Legal Assistant and later as an Administrative Assistant for the River East Transcona Teachers Association.  

She met her dear husband Dan down by the riverside while fishing at Pine Fall way back in 1959.  They married on September 8, 1962, and spent an amazing 60 years together.  Through the years they were Aunty Elaine and Uncle Dan to all the Klips Kids, their friends and Carole and Lisa’s friends too.

An avid member of Transcona Memorial United Church, Elaine served on numerous committees including the Worship Committee, UCW and the Building Committee. She sang in the choir for many years, played the piano for Sunday School and made so many church friends.

She was an avid reader, loved nature and being outside.  Her special places included Wontolla at Big Whiteshell, Grand Beach, and Willows Beach in Victoria.  She and Dan loved going on little adventures and spent many afternoons at Kildonan Park and Birds Hill Park.

Elaine loved her family.  She was a wonderful and devoted daughter and was best friends with her sister Joan.  The two spent many hours on the phone together.  She loved her nieces and nephews and adored each and every one of their children too.  She and Dan traveled to Vancouver numerous times for family celebrations and to visit her nieces and nephews there. 

She was immensely proud of her two children Carole and Lisa.  She supported them through all of their many endeavors.  She celebrated their successes and supported them through their hard times.  She loved her son- in-law Chad and the two joked with one another constantly.  But the light of Elaine’s life was her granddaughter, Emily.  They always said I love you to the moon and back - and now she will watch over Emily from above.

Elaine and Dan shared a love that was immense.  They were best friends and went everywhere together.  Even at the end, the loving looks they shared, were a testament to the love that has transcended 60 years.

Elaine gave advice freely and loved fiercely.  She was a force to be reckoned with.  No matter what she said, it was always meant with love.

Dear Mom, please rest in peace.  We know you are in heaven with your loved ones.  We will miss you so much.  We will see you in the stars, we will hear your voice in the wind, we know you will always be with us and in our hearts.
